So I mentioned in a separate post that I got the shoe in size 37, one size down from my street size and I could barely get my feet into the shoe. I tried stretching it to no avail and I had to return the shoe in the end. So, I managed to find a separate sale and got the same design half size up. So this pair that I have now is 37.5 and they fit spectacular. They are extremely snug without the crazy hot spots in the front and the back of the shoe like the size 37s. A lot of people online talk about sizing it down by one size and some even go down by 2 sizes. However, I guess i have high volume feet and that is just not a viable option at all. If you can't even wear the shoes without wanting to tear let alone trying to climb in them. I know climbing shoes are supposed to hurt in the beginning but the ones I got made my right foot numb and tingly after just 5 minutes. I don't think that's a good thing. And how are you going to flash projects if you can't see it through your tears of pain?
In addition to that, I couldn't even tie the laces up because I had so much volume in the shoe. With the current ones I have, I can actually tighten the laces and not try to push them as wide as they can go.
Anyway, these size 37.5 shoes are perfect for my feet. There is no dead space in the toe box or the heel. It fits like a glove. It's snug and it's not very comfortable because it's still new and stiff. But the fit is right. The heel is amazing. It literally sucks your foot in and I can imagine how well it's going to be for heel hooking. I don't use that technique often because I don't feel competent in doing it. But with this shoe, I'm willing to explore it more.
I decided that I can cut my break in period by a week by heating the shoe up a little. What I did was wear a pair of socks and forced my feet into the shoes and then with a heated hairdryer I went around the front of the shoe and the back to expand the rubber while I'm wearing the shoe. Then, I let the rubber cool with my feet still in the shoe and now the shoe pinches even less and fits even better. I can't wait to climb in them!

Initial Evaluation of the La Sportiva Lace up Miuras Women's
It looks great out of the box. It doesn't have the silly flowers that accompany the women's design for the La Sportiva Miuras VS (it has velcro tabs). Oh! Side note. A lot of people think that they are paying an extra 20 bucks for the VS miuras just for the velcros but that is not the case. The name is confusing because there's a lot of difference in the shoe. The VS is built differently from the lace up version of the miura and you shouldn't expect to get the same shoe just with a velcro tab. Even the rubber that goes on the shoe is different. Keep that in mind!
It fits amazing. The toe box gets my feet in the right direction and the fit is a lot tighter than my evolv elektras. The rubber looks amazing and I can't wait to climb in it to tell you how I feel about the rubber. The heel cup like i said before sucks your heel in and there's a layer of cushion surrounding it that keeps your heel in the heel cup. The fast lace system is great because it helps with the lacing process and also helps with taking the shoe off. I haven't seen a fast lace system in my experience yet so I really like this little feature. The double tabs at the back of the shoe is great for getting the tight shoe onto my foot and I love it.
It feels snug and tight but really comfortable. The shoe feels like it is made well and I'm glad I paid 40 dollars less than usual for my pair from backcountry.com. Amazing!
I'm still in the process of returning my size 37s to backcountry and i'll let you know how the return process goes and whether it's a good site to purchase your shoes from. From what I heard, they have great service and an amazing return policy. But we'll see! I might even write a post just about my experience with backcountry.com.
I can't tell you how they are with regards to climbing in this post because I haven't climbed in them yet. However, when I've had a few weeks in these babies, I'll write another post about how the break in process went and how it has enhanced my climbing (I'm gonna just assume that it will. ;)).
Alright. Until later! Take Care!
